Pytho has been around for many years – this is the sixth generation! It combines features that many runners appreciate; medium drop, torsional rigidity and a spacious, protective toe box. The Putek mesh upper is extremely light and durable, it also keeps water absorption to a minimum resulting in almost no weight increase in wet conditions. A Mudguard around the entire shoe protects when the trail gets more technical. The midsole adds torsional stability and the right level of support for trail running. The 9 mm drop hits the sweet spot for a shoe targeting light trail running and encourages high speed but also goes well with long recreational runs. The outsole has the traction benchmark RB9X rubber compound and a tread pattern made to grip also in muddy conditions.

Pythohhh yeah!

I recently took the Pytho6 to Colombia to do some trail running in Armenia and in the Valle del Cocora. The RB9X sole was the perfect sole for the muddy trails, logs, and the technical ascent over into the valley. The durable mesh upper was perfect for the hot and humid conditions and they kept my feet comfortable. I am usually a M10.5 - M11.0 in sizing, and I went with the M11.0 in the Pytho6. The heel is tight and the it has a roomy toe box which I really liked especially when my foot was flexed going up steep ascents. I can get blisters in the tips of my toes, but the roomy toe box gave me the perfect amount of space, so not a single blister. I am super happy with these shoes and I will be using these as my trail runners and mountain runners. I highly recommend these shoes.

My new go to shoe for fast and technical trail runs.

I've found myself grabbing the new Pythos6 for anything with steep climbs and technical downhills. They are really responsive and have great ground feel while still providing enough rock protection to confidently run fast downhill. The RB9X rubber is really tacky and is holding up really well after being run hard on rocky trails a few times. The mesh upper is super breathable (you can actually see through the material) and really strong. They fit about a half size larger so I'm wearing a US8 instead of US8.5 in other Icebug shoes.
